GTA 6 Pre-Load Date and Time Officially Revealed

The wait for GTA 6 is getting shorter, and Rockstar has finally shared the details players need to prepare for launch. The company has confirmed when digital pre-loading begins, how the game will unlock around the world, and how much storage players should keep free.

The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. But if you want to have it downloaded and ready before launch, here’s what you need to know.

GTA 6 Pre-Load Begins November 10

Rockstar has confirmed that digital pre-loading for GTA 6 begins on Tuesday, November 10, although the exact time depends on your platform.

• PS5: November 10 at midnight in your local time
• Xbox Series X|S: November 10 at 12:00 AM GMT
• Code-in-box editions: Expected to become available from retailers starting November 12

The earlier November 10 date applies to digital pre-orders. Players buying a code-in-box version will need to check with their retailer when their code becomes available.

GTA 6 Pre-Load Times Around the World

The preload schedule is different on PlayStation and Xbox. PS5 players can begin downloading at midnight local time, while Xbox players follow one global start time.

GTA 6 Requires Up to 212 GB of Storage

Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will require up to 212 GB of free storage, depending on the device.

That’s a substantial amount of space, so players may want to check their console storage before the preload opens. The 212 GB figure is the stated storage requirement; it should not automatically be treated as the exact amount of data transferred during the download.

If your console is already full, it’s worth deciding which games you can remove now rather than waiting until November 10.

GTA 6 Launches at Midnight in Each Region

Rockstar has also confirmed that GTA 6 will unlock at midnight local time on November 19.

This means the game won’t launch at one single worldwide moment. Instead, access will begin as November 19 arrives in each region, so some players will be able to start playing while other parts of the world are still on November 18.

Rockstar Is Also Releasing GTA 6 Cover Art and a Leonida Map

There’s another small bonus for fans. On November 19, Rockstar plans to make an official GTA 6 cover art poster and a map of Leonida available as a free digital download through its official website.

A physical, double-sided version of the poster will also be available later through the Rockstar Store. It will cost $0.99 on its own, or players can receive it as a free gift with a purchase from the store.
